Junior Affiliate (PhD)

Dilmurat Mahmut is a doctoral student in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education at McGill University.

Since entering his PhD program in 2014, he has been working with the team guided by Dr Ratna Ghosh who has rich experiences in doing research on education, multiculturalism and most recently religious extremism. He has attended several grant proposal writings related to education and security in Canada and beyond. The most recent project finished was a Global Literature Review on Education and Security sponsored by Toney Blair Faith Foundation. In summer 2015 he worked as a teaching assistant for the intensive international course on Education and Security offered by the Faculty of Religious Studies, McGill University. Currently he is part of a 5 year research project titled Countering Religious Extremism through Education in Multicultural Canada funded by SSHRC. His future work will include exploring the identity challenges of Muslim immigrants in Canada.
