David Charters

Senior Research Affiliate

Dr. David Charters is Professor of Military History and Senior Fellow at the Gregg Centre for the Study of War and Society at the University of New Brunswick. He specializes in the fields of counterinsurgency and intelligence.
He was for twenty years Director of the University’s Centre for Conflict Studies, the predecessor to the Gregg Centre, and has edited the Centre’s Journal of Conflict Studies for many years. Author and editor of several books, his articles on security issues have appeared in numerous other professional and academic journals. From 2008 to 2010, Dr. Charters was President of the Canadian Association for Security and Intelligence Studies (CASIS), and from 2005 to 2008 was a member of the Advisory Council on National Security. He received his Ph.D. from the University of London.
