Ratheesan Uthayakumar

Ratheesan Uthayakumar works as a Researcher at a police service in the Greater Toronto Area. He previously completed an internship with Horizon Intelligence (HozInt), a Belgium-based organization that provides timely information to mitigate safety/security risks through open-source research. In his capacity as a Security Risk Analyst, he produced over 750 threat alerts in the Americas and Asia Pacific, while following the intelligence cycle (direction, collection, collation, analysis, and dissemination). As a former Court Clerk and Registrar at the Ontario Court of Justice, Ratheesan managed court proceedings involving terrorism, money laundering, human trafficking, drug trafficking, and homicides. He is currently registered in the online Certificate – Crime Analytics program at Toronto Metropolitan University. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Ryerson University. His academic research focused on the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (L.T.T.E) and their pioneering of the Black Tiger suicide wing in launching strategic attacks against political opponents and military targets. Ratheesan continues to pursue learning and development opportunities in the security and intelligence section.
