Senior Research Affiliate

Dr Mary Manjikian is an associate professor of political science with a particular interest in the politics of threat and securitization.
In her work, she focuses particularly on the politics of emerging technologies and the new threats which they bring. She is an External Research Associate for the Strategic Studies Institute of the Army War College, where she has written about the creation of confidence-building measures in cyberspace for the prevention of cyberwarfare most recently. Thus, her particular interests are in the ways in which terrorists may seek to utilize existing technologies- such as drones- and the ways in which legislation and military strategies may evolve to prevent that eventuality. Most recently, however, she has begun thinking about the narratives of religious conversion which many terrorists put forth and is hoping to do more work in this area.
