Joe Masoodi’s research interests include surveillance, emerging digital technologies, security and human rights. He has a master’s degree in war studies from the Royal Military College of Canada as well as a master’s degree in sociology from Queen’s University. He studied sociology as a doctoral candidate at Queen’s University specializing in media, information and surveillance, focussing on the use of social media by local police agencies in Canada. Joe currently conducts research at the Canadian Forces College on issues related to defence and international security and is a policy analyst on technology, cybersecurity and democracy at the Ryerson Leadership Lab.
