Jean de Dieu Sikulibo is currently working as Senior Legal Advisor for the International Humanitarian Law Resource Centre in West Africa (Diakonia, a Swedish international organization, where he leads the Resource center’s research and capacity building programs. Dr Sikulibo undertakes legal research on a wide range of legal issues and provide legal resource in international humanitarian law, international criminal law, Public international law and human rights with a particular emphasis on the protection of women and children affected by the current armed conflict and violations of human rights in the Sahel region. Previously, he served in various legal advisory roles at the United Nations in Haiti, at the Supreme Court of Rwanda, Lawyers without Borders and lectured international law subjects at Universities in Rwanda. He holds a Ph.D in International Criminal Law from the University of Strathclyde/United Kingdom and a Master’s degree in International Public Law from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He also holds a Bachelor of Laws from the National University of Rwanda. Dr Jean de Dieu Sikulibo has written and spoken widely on a wide range of international legal issues primarily relating to the recent developments in international criminal justice, transitional justice processes, gender justice in post-conflict settings, international humanitarian law and human rights.
